OK next up is Russia .... it's a work one but have to say that I am really looking forward to it. St. Petersburg and Moscow!

Im now trying to figure  out what blog to use. This one works on ipad and works with blogger :-)

US road trip

Now we are almost ready to go - just about everything is booked. A few bits and pieces still need be sorted and of course the joy of packing is yet to come but we are starting to get confirmation emails from BA the accommodation people. Our apartments are definitely waiting for us. As is the convertible!

Airport

Well I got down to the airport ok and now about to eat my omelette.....

Cafes

I'm now in the walmgate cafe -the gatehouse. It's really nicely done our with leather chairs, bookshelves and nice coffee. It's quiet and the kind of place you could spend some time reading or studying. It's a little
cold but then all of York is right now! there is
a blizzard outside!

Wednesday in january

We walked all over that part of town trying to find somewhere warm but most places were either closed or cold. We settled for koko as there seemed to be heaters but they were more for effect than anything! I had a nice warsteiner but the guy there said that the machine was off so Jelena had to mke do with
tap water and not the tea she'd hoped for. It was so cold
we got a taxi back!

Well here we are in piwo bar in York. Nice in some ways as there is Czech beer for me and some sort of bizarre Belgian wheat beer with apple for Jelena. Problem is that it is slightly cold! What we need on a night like this is a trad pub with open fire!

Nearly home

Well I'm on the last leg now. I'm on the train to
York at the moment and
London is predictably packed on a Friday! Bad tempered people fighting
and sprinting down the platform. You don't get that on japan!

Departure

The city university students from 2008 took me out last for probably the best meal I had here. After just five hours sleep I am now at the airport and will be off to the gate soon. Pretty tired but at least it means that I
might sleep! Talking of best meals, I just has the worst. Breakfast at burger king. Yuk!

Yeeeeeaaaaaay!

I have finished all my meetings!!! All seemed to go pretty well too! I rewarded myself by blasting my ears with deerhunter and then
a coffee in pacific coffee.

With Winnie at the Jockey Club

phew

Been a bit busy over the last couple of days. I was at Chinese U yesterday and met up with Winnie and her colleagues. I gave the presentations and we had some, what I think were, good, positive discussions. They took me to (working!) lunch at the Jockey Club and then I rushed off to Kowloon to see an alumnus before heading back the hotel for ( a much-needed) 10 minute power nap! Then it was out again to meet Mike from Lingnan.
